GEORGE RIGGS, CPA
George has over 30 years of experience in public accounting providing a broad range of audit and management consulting services to domestic and international companies. George has joined FML as an audit and assurance partner. George’s services are primarily concentrated on audit and other assurance related engagements rendered to public entities registered with the Securities Exchange Commission ("SEC") as well as closely held companies. Prior to joining FML, George spent many years as an audit and quality control partner (professional practice director) at a "Big Four" accounting firm and two New York City-based northeast regional accounting firms as well founding his own firm. In these roles he provided technical consultation to others on major technical issues facing the firms' clients.
George's expertise is focused on a variety of industries including manufacturing and distribution (bio-technology, medical devices and equipment, food products, semiconductor and telecommunications), entertainment software, service organizations (consulting and staffing services firms), financial services (broker/dealers, private equity funds, insurance, lending institutions), construction and real estate. Other industry expertise includes consulting on mergers and acquisitions (business combinations), fair value accounting and reporting, inventory valuation, long term contract accounting and revenue recognition etc. George has assisted numerous clients with structuring financing transactions; either with the intricacies of becoming publicly traded and with the myriad issues faced by today's SEC regulations, including capital financing transactions, stock compensation, complex equity transactions, and others; or with private institutional financing.
He is a Certified Public Accountant, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA). He is the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Hartford Preservation Alliance (HPA), a non-profit advocacy group dedicated to supporting the preservation of Hartford’s unique architecture.
