Who We Support – Community Organizations
FML people give back to the community often. Discover some of our community-based activities below.
FML employees volunteer in the classroom to educate and inspire young people to understand business and economics. In addition, employees and family members help raise money by participating in the JA Bowl-A-thon.
Literacy Volunteers of Central CT
Literacy Volunteers of Central CT provides small group and one-on-one literacy tutoring to adults. FML sponsors the annual Scrabble Challenge through a sponsorship and employee participation.
The Children's Museum (West Hartford, CT)
The mission of The Children’s Museum is to engage children, their families and their teachers through fun, hands-on educational programs, activities, exhibits and community outreach. The Museum strives to encourage discovery, spark a lifelong interest in science and nature, improve science achievement, and develop civic awareness of science and nature. FML has supported this mission through its sponsorship of the annual gala and prior board representation.
Hartford Preservation Alliance
The mission of the Hartford Preservation Alliance is to advocate for the preservation and revitalization of the unique architectural heritage and neighborhood character of Hartford. FML supports this mission through its sponsorship and board representations.
High School Accounting Shadow Day
Through the CT Society of CPAs and directly with high schools, FML educates high school accounting classes on the career paths for college degreed accountants. This includes shadowing employees to understand what a typical work day is like for a public accountant.
The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA)
FML supports the CTCPA’s various community outreach events. Our firm members volunteer their time by collecting books which benefited Read to Grow; participating in the Kickball Tournament which benefited Relentless Against Cancer; participating in the Walk Like MADD fund raiser to raise money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving; and collecting winter coats which were donated to Button Up Connecticut. In addition, FML provides a gold sponsorship to the Education Trust Fund which awards cash scholarships to assist students in complying with the 150 hour educational requirement of the CT State Board of Accountancy.
FML supports or has supported the following youth sports leagues; Hebron Little League, Hebron Youth Baseball, Hebron Soccer Association, South Windsor Football, Bacon Academy Friends of Football, East Haven Little League, Colchester Youth Basketball.
FML donates to various 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations such as Friends of Yale New Haven’s Children’s Hospital, Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, New Seasons Special Funds, Bristol Lions Club, Bristol Rotary Club.
The University of CT Foundation
The mission of The University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. is to solicit, receive, invest and administer gifts and financial resources from private sources for the benefit of all campuses and programs of the University of Connecticut. FML supports this mission through its scholarships and marketing support for the UConn Technology Park.
The Connecticut Radio Information System (CRIS) is Connecticut’s only radio reading service. The programs broadcast on CRIS Radio are available to individuals who, because of vision loss, learning disability or physical handicap, are unable to read printed material. FML is an event sponsor to two of CRIS Radio’s major fundraising events.
ConnectiKids mission is “Inspiring Hartford’s children to make positive choices, embrace high expectations and fulfill their potential by providing successful mentors, individualized tutoring, enriching activities and stimulating environments.” FML supports ConnectiKids through board representation from FML employees as well as supporting its annual Christmas toy drive.
Boy Scouts of America Connecticut Rivers Council
FML is a proud sponsor of the Boy Scouts of America Connecticut River Council through its participation on the Annual Golf Classic planning committee and sponsorship of the event. Scouting provides youth with an opportunity to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards. These opportunities not only help them when they are young, but carry forward into their adult lives. The skills they learn in Scouting help them overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives.
HartBeat Ensemble (Hartford, CT)
HartBeat Ensemble creates theater based on stories drawn from contemporary life in Connecticut. Through Mainstage Plays, Education Programs and commissioned work, HartBeat develops theater that is accessible beyond the barriers of class, race, geography and gender. FML supports HartBeat Ensemble through board representation and sponsorship of its various programs supporting its overall mission statement.
Fiondella Charity Golf Tournament
Through sponsorship of the Fiondella Charity Golf Tournament, FML actively supports a number of local non-profit organizations. The proceeds from the tournament are used to enhance programs and services at Boys & Girls Club and Family Center of Bristol, The Salvation Army and Literacy Volunteer Organization of Greater Hartford.
New Seasons, Inc.
Through sponsorship of the New Seasons, Inc. Golf Tournament, FML supports this community based organization providing state of the art services to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities in the Greater Manchester area.
