James began his career at FML after graduating from Eastern Connecticut State University. He manages engagements for the firm’s State and Local Tax Practice with a focus on income tax, sales tax, and federal and state credits and incentive services. He serves a client base ranging from large publicly traded and privately held companies to small, start-up businesses in various industries, including manufacturing, service, software development/technology, and engineering. James has performed and managed large tax credit studies, and extensive sales and use tax consulting services.
When James started at FML he worked as a generalist in the tax department. This experience has given James a federal and state tax compliance background that enables him to assist in developing strategies for clients to stay ahead of and manage state and local tax pitfalls and to identify opportunities that result from changes in state legislation. During his time with FML, he has developed a background in areas including federal and state R&D tax credit studies, tax compliance of large, multinational companies, Accounting for Income Taxes under ASC 740, State tax due diligence and state tax planning and consulting.
