Fiondella, Milone & LaSaracina has announced the promotion of both Vinny Fanelli, CPA and James Goldkamp, CPA to partner, tax & advisory services.
Fanelli has just begun his 14th year at FML, where his work focuses on engagements for U.S. federal and state income tax compliance and strategic planning. He has wide-ranging experience in providing comprehensive services to private equity backed companies and closely held businesses including service providers, biotech, construction, manufacturers and real estate. Vinny specializes in individuals connected to flow through partnership and S Corporation businesses including high net-worth individual tax returns.
In the role of a trusted business advisor, Fanelli works closely with business owner clients throughout the entire business lifecycle. Beginning with entity selection and tax planning for the current year, Fanelli guides clients through tax planning for subsequent years and potential exits, Fanelli has supported many successful companies from their initial entity selection and annual tax optimization to navigating successful exit strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and in some cases, initial public offerings (IPOs).
Fanelli graduated from Bryant University and earned a master’s in taxation & accounting from the University of Hartford. He is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A longtime Glastonbury resident, Fanelli has created strong relationships with local small business owners and is actively involved in the community. A leader in the firm’s social committee, Fanelli ensures firm outings support local small businesses. He plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s future through his leading role in recruitment, staff development initiatives, and the expansion of FML’s internship and leadership development programs.
Goldkamp began his career at FML in 2008 as a generalist in the tax department after graduating from Eastern Connecticut State University. He earned a masters in taxation from the University of Hartford. Goldkamp manages engagements for the firm’s Credits, Incentives and State Tax practice with a focus on federal and state research & development credits, state income tax, sales tax, and other federal and state credits and incentive services.
Goldkamp is a member of the CTCPA and AICPA. Despite joining an established firm, Goldkamp helped create FML’s Credits, Incentives and State Tax practice and build it into a highly successful division of the firm. The credits and incentives service offerings for a firm of FML’s size creates a unique dynamic of industry-leading expertise from a trusted local market firm.
Goldkamp works with businesses ranging from early-stage, high growth biotech and software startups to legacy manufacturing and engineering firms with activities nationally and abroad. FML’s Credits & Incentives practice enables the firm to augment compliance services by delivering companies of all stages non-dilutive capital to solidify their financial foundation and ensure technical innovation is met with maximum fiscal return through tax refunds or tax offsets from credits. Goldkamp has done pro bono work for UConn TIP (Technology Incubator Program). He also speaks and gives presentations to students in the program, sharing his knowledge on credits and incentives so they know what’s potentially available to them.
“Vinny and James are highly valued members of the FML team and have been for many years,” says FML managing partner Jeff Fiondella. “They are leaders in the firm and in their communities and represent us well in everything they do. Being promoted to partner is a big milestone, and there’s no question they have many more accomplishments ahead of them in their professional careers.”
